We conducted a demonstration of our vision for the finished sensory room.

We conducted a pre-demonstration survey and post demonstration survey. These were the results:

Pre-Demonstration Survey

This survey was conducted to gather information on what our users wanted to see in the Sensory Haus and what knowledge they already have about Sensory rooms.

Would you use a sensory room?

We received a strong response of interest in sensory rooms, with 91.7% of people saying they would use a sensory room. This was a clear indication to us that Sensory Haus was a good idea.

Do you think a sensory room would add to your college experience?

100% of our participants thought that having a sensory room in the college would add to their student experience, this again was a great signal for us to proceed with our project.

100% of students agreed that a Sensory room would add to student experience in the college

Would you like to make Sensory Haus permanent in the college?

Every participant agreed that they would like to see a sensory room permanently installed in the college.

Having the room darker was the most common suggestion.

People suggested having black out blinds.

It was also suggested to build the sensory room in a space with less natural light.

Supplying more tactilely stimulating equipment such as blankets was also suggested

It was also suggested to have more colourful lights in the room

It was also suggested to make the space a silent zone, which was initially our plan but we think people were just excited about the opening of the sensory room so there was more talk than there usually would be.
